NBC for Southeast Alaska will be reporting Alaska election results live this evening as they come in after polls close at 8pm. Results of key races will be posted right here on www.kath.tv in real time as they become available - updates are expected to be posted every 20 minutes, starting around 9pm. And through our partner station KTUU, we will have live updates from Election Central in Anchorage throughout the evening on KATH-TV.

We will also be posting updates on twitter.com/kathtv throughout the evening.

Final official results won't be available for many weeks, and due to the complex nature of the highly debated Senatorial race, a clear winner may not be announced for some time. The Alaska Division of Elections reports the following schedule for key events:

  • November 2: Election day. Polls open 7:00am - 8:00pm. Last day to postmark absentee by mail ballots for General Election.

  • November 9: Possible count of absentee, remaining early and questioned ballots in those regions that have completed ballot review.

  • November 12: Deadline to receive by mail ballots mailed from within the United States.

  • November 12-17: As regions complete their ballot review for absentee and questioned ballots, they will schedule the ballot counting.

  • November 17: Deadline to receive by mail ballots mailed from overseas addresses. Regional offices must have all absentee and questioned ballots
reviewed, opened and counted by this date.

  • November 29: Target date to certify 2010 General election.

NBC for Southeast Alaska will of course continue to report election results as they come in tonight and beyond.

Our Live TV coverage begins at 8pm and runs through the evening with reporting from the national NBC News and Alaska's KTUU reporters across the country and the state. Our full TV schedule is always available online at http://www.kath.tv/?page=schedule
